Verizon Cellular Phones' Contribution - HOPELINE TO LIFELINE
Nowadays, several wireless manufacturers are aiming to claim a chunk of the market patronizing the cellular phone industry. All of them try to outshine others by providing more high-tech phones and services, and needless to say, we, the consumers, grab them. But of all the wireless manufacturers we have ever known, Verizon seems to be somewhat - different.
Verizon Wireless, formerly known as the Bell Atlantic Mobile has shown its commitment to fight domestic violence through its HopeLine Program. This is a phone-recycling program exclusive to Verizon Wireless that uses refurbished and recycled wireless equipment to help victims of domestic violence.
The program started in 1995 and for 10 years now, HopeLine has continued to grow significantly. It is now a multifaceted program, which includes a successful phone recycling and re-use effort, financial support for local and national domestic violence organizations and community, and corporate awareness program, among others. During that year, the program donated voicemail boxes to victims of domestic violence living in shelters. HopeLine also donated emergency wireless phones for victims' use.
In the year 2001, Verizon Wireless encouraged its customers and the public nationwide to donate no-longer-used wireless phones, thus, national recycling and re-use became the key elements of HopeLine. By October 2002, #HOPE was launched by Verizon Wireless nationwide. Victims of domestic violence are able to access professional support quickly and confidently. #HOPE became an important part of the HopeLine program by providing victims with an avenue to safety and independence.
Verizon Wireless did not fail in their mission. As a matter of fact, they have collected about 2 million phones through the HopeLine and they have donated more than $1 million to the organizations engaged in raising the awareness of domestic violence and its prevention.
The name HopeLine, by the way, was chosen because it embodied the positive difference that Verizon Wireless intended to make in the areas of domestic violence awareness, prevention and victim recovery.
Indeed, through this program, victims of violence and crimes have already got a lifeline. They already have someone to support and care for them. And upon knowing that there are companies doing something to help them, hope would surely relive in the hearts of these victims.
Verizon offers almost all brands of cell phones but to date, Samsung i700 Pocket PC comes first in line.
The phone, which weighs 5.64 ounces and measures 5.20 in x 2.76 in x 0.71 in. has voice dialing, voice memo, custom graphics and ring tones, mobile versions of Microsoft applications, and a built-in camera.
The digital camera includes rotating camera lens, resolution and quality settings, white balance, exposure settings, times, and all other features that a regular digital camera has.
Samsung i700 is Wireless Internet ready and it also includes pocket versions of all the windows software that you can use while working on the go.
Downloading games, music, and video files will be as easy as eating peanuts because i700 supports MP3 and WAV formats. Samsung i700 is a cell phone, which allows people to stay on the go while being trendy and updated to latest technology at the same time.
But as mentioned earlier, Verizon is just like other wireless manufacturers. They all offer different kinds, models, and brands of cell phones, with different features, functions, and services. One can always have lots of various choices to pick. What makes Verizon Wireless different is that parts of their returns go to good deeds and this proves that Verizon, with the help of its donors and subscribers has really paved its way to make a difference.
